Goodness, we love this time of year. It is event-tastic. One week we’re in Berlin, sampling the delights of IFA and relishing in the power of a face-to-face meeting, the next we’re in Bishopsgate, London, discussing emerging technologies, new business models and what it takes to scale innovation in the 21st Century at D/Sruption Summit Europe.

This week will see the dawn of DMEXCO 2018, the Cologne based Expo that will provide two days of inspiration on how to take your business into the future.

Forget wedding season (think Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson circa Wedding Crashers 2005)! We’re in the middle of digital marketing event season! And we’re feeling inspired, excited and ready to see what the latest global offering has to offer our agile minds.

DMEXCO positions itself as a key meeting place for players in digital business, marketing and innovation. The world’s biggest advertisers and most influential technology figureheads have trodden the boards in Cologne, and audiences have been wowed by keynote talks from the likes of Sheryl Sandberg (Facebook), Marc Pritchard (Proctor and Gamble), Tim Kendall (Pinterest), and Marc Mathieu (Samsung) in previous years – to name but a few!

This year sees an equally stellar line up prepped with Ebay and SONY all set to grace the stage and below is a snap shot of just a few of the talks we are looking forward to hearing this year - the tip of the ice-berg of innovation and inspiration.

  • Wednesday 12th September will see MAGENTO discuss “Driving growth through experience driven commerce” observing the shift in consumers mind-set from looking for products to buy, to seeking experiences, and what this means for brands who are now challenged to make every experience consistent, personalised and real-time.
  • Thursday 13th September will have Giuseppe Caltabiano, Head of Content Strategy at Contently talk to “Branded Content: How to drive engagement and sales with branded video” on a panel with Expedia and Vice Media. Here the experts will debate how brands can develop unique stories that people really want to see and engage with and how tools such as AI are being used to help edit and market videos in just a few minutes!
  • Phuong Nguyen at Ebay will discuss “The Age of the Customer”, and Itay Pincas at SaleUp will discuss “How to crack the code of Generation Z” And this is just the stage! Firms such as Double Verify, HubspotMediaMathTaboola and Outbrain are all exhibiting so we know some tantalising conversations are to be had on the ground too!

What can we say? Summer, you’ve been a delight. But it’s time to hang up our heels and penguin suits from the frog-march of nuptials (she says as a happy newly wed!!) and head back to school. As we all know, technology trends are fast and unstoppable. It’s imperative for us all to wake up from the slumber of summer, keep up with the pace and stay ahead of the curve. That’s exactly what we’ll be doing at DMEXCO this week.
